Overview

Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials AG (MCAM) is a subsidiary of the Japanese chemical group Mitsubishi Chemicals. Its core business: innovative materials for the processing industry. Its strategy: careful planning. That’s why the company already implemented software for the HR department back in 2015 – a department into which many companies tend to invest relatively little. Today, the new system provides important decision-making foundations for the globally operating company and has elevated the internal standing of the HR department to a new level.

Objective 

The HR department therefore needed a tool to efficiently drive all aspects of people management, particularly in the areas of succession planning and employee development. Across all levels and functional areas, MCAM employs more than 2,800 people at 20 locations worldwide, including approximately 200 in Switzerland. The company is highly decentralized, which places a particular demand on the HR department to establish a unified structure within the employee organization. That is why the HR team took the lead in implementing HR software that would support this hands-on approach.

Six years have passed since the introduction of the first module. Has the HR department made it “into the club” during this time? The HR department provides an important foundation for strategic decisions through its data overview. The “Succession Planning” module plays a central role in this. The platform identifies and manages key positions and calibrates employee evaluations — across the globe and with all 2,800 employees taken into account.
