In the past, this led to countless wars, atrocities and destructions. Today, one side offers 3-D headsets, so that the original temple that once stood there, can still be seen, if you wear the headset. This struck me as a potential break-through: any number of religions would be able to place their temples on the mount and not interfere with each other. Future breakthroughs in technology might even enable the haptic feelings associated with climbing such a temple and touching it, where and if permissible. Taking a step further, technology might enable building your own temple – based on best practice Templates, choosing colours, styles (gothic, classic) … building individual extensions … There would not need to be a limit, but time and effort and individual taste.
Jumping back to business, looking e.g. to HR business processes, again a parallel, this time from business to a religious paradigm shift: Going from “HR” to “the future of HR is NO HR” is somewhat similar to the advent of Protestantism – Martin Luther proclaiming that the key personnel of the past may have no – or a very different – future. And a next step is pending, for HR: The claim, that the future of HR is actually YOUR HR – an individualization, based on best practice Templates, but otherwise free to design in any way. The platform (the mount) provides the base, any individualization is possible – but not recommendable, if not efficient. YOUR HR will be template (temple), best practice driven and very much “self-organizing”.
Looking at consumer IT, always a step ahead – we are already there: Google, Amazon, Facebook – they are very much YOUR Service – they know you and your needs and offer intelligent customizations, that make most people very comfortable and happy using the services – even at the expense of living in “constructed” worlds, “fake news”, not appreciated by others. These services got rid of the “man in the middle” a long time ago (the traditional librarian or journalist), jumped quickly the phase, where there was not much help around for people, who could not help themselves, and dived right into the area where each- and everyone can easily, without effort, build their own “universe” they feel comfortable in. There are clearly impressive positive use cases associated with this and dangers to be avoided – but this is leading the way.
